``I will rebuild the country with the new spirit of Park Chung-hee.'' It clearly shows whose legacy he wants to continue politically. But a more important question is this. Was his candidacy a decision for a 'national' or an individual's winning move to expect a 'miracle'?

On the very day the announcement was made, the forests of North Gyeongsang Province were still in black ashes. The North Gyeongsang wildfire that broke out in March damaged more than 1,400 homes, and thousands of people have yet to find temporary shelter.

In the midst of this, the provincial governor said he would stand on the central political stage. He said that APEC preparations are "done" and responded that the restoration of forest fires requires "measures at the level of national re-creation," but nowhere was he said that he showed sympathy or concrete action for the real suffering of the provincial residents.

He dreams of presidency by talking about Park Chung-hee's "miracle" when running around the site and hanging on to restoration will not be enough. Covering the doji office with a vacation? This irresponsible approach not only creates a vacuum in the government, but also reduces the citizens to being an accessory to political experimentation.

Governor Lee Cheol-woo said, "I made a miracle in 2008," and offered to show it again. However, politics is not a game that relies on miracles. A national leader is prepared based on his clear strategy, cool-headed perception of reality, and trust in the people.

Running for president, which is also unlikely to win the election, is nothing more than a "political gamble." His candidacy may seem like a "multiplier gin," but the multiple gin is drawn not on his own but on the assets of provincial residents and North Gyeongsang Province.

This declaration, set in Park Chung-hee's birthplace, is a clearly calculated production. The intention is to stimulate the sentiment of the conservative camp and make the most of symbolic capital. However, symbols are only justified when summoned in the direction of the people. Expecting the legacy of the past, the present problem cannot be solved, but rather, leaders who are bound by the past cannot paint the future.

Governor Lee Chul-woo says, "The country can live only when the provinces live." However, it is difficult for us to find sincerity when we turn our backs on the realities of the region and only move toward the presidency. Leaders are evaluated by actions rather than words.

What the provincial residents want now is not a miracle, but an alternative, not a hope, but a responsibility.

Korea is like on the eve of a storm today, a day before the impeachment motion is announced. However, even in such a difficult moment, hope is still alive. This is because warm hands of solidarity continue from all over our society, providing small comfort and great strength to the victims.

On Sunday morning, March 30, there was a meaningful move in the parking lot of Geumosan Mountain in Gumi-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do. Members of the Gumi Marathon Club gathered to help the forest fire victims. Those who gathered voluntarily offered a helping hand, preparing clothes and daily necessities.

The sharing began with the story of Kim Sung-ha, general manager of the Gumi Marathon Club. She works for the Gumi Education Support Office and tells the sad news that the family of his friend Lee In-ho, who invited him to the Yeongdeok Blue Road Marathon in 2024, lost his home in the bushfire. Lee's family was in a hurry to take refuge, so they couldn't take care of anything. Secretary Kim asked his members to collect unused clothes and daily necessities and delivered a message, saying, "It will be of great help if a small amount of care is gathered." In response, many members actively participated and added warmth.

The members organized the carefully collected items one by one and wished the victims to return to their daily lives as soon as possible. Beyond simple donations, the appearance of the community united to help neighbors in need was very touching. 지난 3월 30일 일요일 아침, 경북 구미시 금오산 대주차장에서 의미 있는 움직임이 있었다. 구미마라톤클럽 회원들이 모여 산불 피해 주민들을 돕기 위한 나눔 활동을 펼친 것이다. 자발적으로 모인 이들은 옷과 생필품을 준비하며 도움의 손길을 내밀었다.

이 나눔의 시작은 구미마라톤클럽 김성하 총무의 사연에서 비롯되었다. 그는 구미교육지원청에서 근무하며, 2024년 영덕블루로드 마라톤에 초대해줬던 친구 이인호 씨의 가족이 이번 산불로 집을 잃었다는 안타까운 소식을 전했다. 이 씨의 가족은 급히 몸만 피신하느라 아무것도 챙기지 못한 상황이었다. 김 총무는 회원들에게 사용하지 않는 옷과 생필품을 모아달라고 요청하며 "작은 정성이 모이면 큰 도움이 된다"는 메시지를 전했다. 이에 많은 회원들이 적극적으로 나서며 온정을 보탰다.

Amid political conflicts and ideological confrontations, we have to think about what we should choose for the development of the country and local communities. Especially in the reality that the ideological division of local politicians is deepening, what we really need to learn is humanity and solidarity for each other.

The examples of Osan City in Gyeonggi Province and Andong City in North Gyeongsang Province show that it truly exerts power when it transcends ideology and unites with humanity. Osan City has a progressive tendency and Andong City has a conservative tradition. Two cities with significantly different political inclinations formed a deep friendship in March 2024, providing 10,000 masks to Andong City, which was hit by forest fires. Osan City immediately started to support after receiving news that a forest fire on Uiseong had spread to the Andong area. What they showed was not political ideology, but sincerity to help each other in the midst of a crisis.

Like the phrase "A friend in need is a friend indeed", it showed well what it is to be true friends in a crisis. In the midst of ideological confrontation and conflict, Osan City and Andong City showed solidarity not just to support goods, but to express their true feelings for each other.

Today, we are trapped in a political ideology. However, in the face of catastrophes such as wildfires, how can ideology help the people in practice? In the end, only practical support and cooperation can overcome the crisis. The examples of Osan and Andong show how important the power of humanity and solidarity is. Now we must overcome the crisis together, holding hands together, beyond the ideological walls.
