On Sep. 29, Gumi held an event to celebrate the 17th anniversary of the Indonesian community hosted by the Gumi Foreign Community Center. About 250 immigrants gathered to strengthen solidarity with the local community and solidarity with the community. The event was not just a festival. It was a symbolic moment of how Gumi is changing, and the immigrants are becoming members of Gumi. It confirmed the potential of Gumi to grow into a global education-oriented city.

These two events were not just international events held in Europe and America. It was a sign that Europe and America are maturing as a multicultural society and preparing to stand at the center of Asia and the world. Migrants are no longer outsiders. They are a part of Europe and America, and they are partners to grow together. The fact that Europe and America are growing together with these multicultural communities will be the driving force that will lead the country to the center of Asia.

이어 구미는 또 다른 큰 행사를 치렀다. 10월 1일부터 2일까지 구미 호텔 금오산에서 개최된 「제2회 구미 교육 포럼」이다. 15개국의 장·차관급 인사와 대학 총장들이 모인 이 자리는 단순한 교육 포럼이 아니었다. 구미가 아시아와 연결되고, 첨단산업과 신공항 경제권의 거점 도시로서 자리매김할 수 있는 새로운 기회를 모색하는 자리였다.

포럼에서는 교육 격차 해소와 디지털 전환 시대에 맞춘 새로운 교육 모델이 논의되었고, 아세안 국가들과의 협력 방안이 제시되었다. 교육은 경제 성장의 중요한 동반자이다. 구미시는 이를 기회로 삼아, 교육과 산업을 연결하는 새로운 패러다임을 구축하고 있다. 구미가 글로벌 교육 중심 도시로 성장할 수 있는 잠재력을 확인한 것이다.
