In Buddhism, the word mercy is also used in the sense of giving. It is a great virtue of the Mahayana Bodhisattva to not think of the conditions or the fruits of the good that will return even when showing mercy.

Clean giving brings blessings, which is the truth, and there is no reason to cling to results or indulge in them.

In Buddhism, it is called "three-wheel cleaning," which means that first, the person who gives should be clean, the person who receives the gift should be clean, and third, the thing that gives should be clean.

Monk Woohak said, "When you clean up the three wheels, the giving itself becomes holy and holy."

There are many people and organizations in the world that practice giving. The majority tend to want to be praised for their giving.

However, there are also people who give until they die and take the fact to the grave forever. This is the same as the logic that nature has given humans fresh air and water, but it feels natural.

보왕삼매론 여덟째, 시덕불구망보

공덕을 베풀려면 과보를 바라지 말라. 과보를 바라면 도모하는 뜻을 가지게 되나니, 그래서 부처님께서 말씀하시되 "덕 베푼 것을 헌신처럼 버리라."하셨다.

우학스님께서 말하길 남에게 덕을 베풀 떄는 돌아오는 것을 생각하지 말고 순수하게 하라했으며 대가를 바라면 잔꾀를 부리게 되어 100퍼센트 온전하지 못하다고 했다.

불교에서는 베푼다는 의미에서 자비라는 말도 쓴다고 한다. 자비를 베풀 때도 조건이나 돌아올 선의 과보를 생각지 않는 것이 대승보살의 큰 미덕이다.

청정한 베풂은 복덕을 가져다 주는 것으로 이는 곧 진리로서 결과에 집착하거나 결과를 탐닉할 이유가 전혀 없다.

불가에서는 '삼륜청정'이라 하여 첫째는 베푸는 사람이 청정해야 하고, 뚤째는 베풂을 받는 사람이 청정해야 하고, 셋째는 베푸는 물건이 청정해야 한다는 뜻이다.

우학스님께서는 "삼륜청정할 때 비로서그 베풂 자체가 거룩하고 성스러워진다"라고 했다.

세상에는 베풂을 실천하는 많은 사람과 단체들이 있다. 대다수가 자신의 베풂을 알려 칭송 받기를 원하는 경향이 있다.

하지만 자신이 죽을 때까지 베풂을 행하고도 무덤까지 그 사실을 영원히 가져가는 사람도 존재한다. 이는 자연이 인간에게 신선한 공기와 물을 선사해 주었지만 당연 한 것으로 느끼게하는 이치와도 같다.
