Andong City won all three special zones for the first time in Korea: the Special Cultural Zone, the Special Education Development Zone, and the Special Opportunity Development Zone.

This marked an important turning point toward sustainable development by overcoming the crisis of local extinction.

On June 20, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy designated Andong as an opportunity development special zone.

As a result, Andong City attracted large-scale investment worth 555 billion won, centering on the bio, vaccine, and hemp industries.

With the investment, which involved companies such as SK Bioscience and Limited Health Life, Andong City is ready to leap into a global bio and vaccine hub.

Andong City is also striving to maximize local cultural and educational resources through special cultural zones and special education development zones, improving settlement conditions and fostering human resources.

This is an important factor in revitalizing the local economy and promoting population inflow.

Andong Mayor Kwon Ki-chang said, "Andong-si will open a new local era as a representative model for overcoming the crisis of local extinction with the designation of this special opportunity development zone."

Andong City's achievements present a new path for local governments to overcome local extinction and sustainable development.

안동시가 대한민국 최초로 문화특구, 교육발전특구, 기회발전특구의 3대 특구를 모두 석권했다. 

이는 지방소멸 위기를 극복하고 지속 가능한 발전을 향한 중요한 전환점을 마련한 것이다.

지난 6월 20일, 산업통상자원부가 안동시를 기회발전특구로 지정했다. 

이로써 안동시는 바이오·백신 및 헴프산업을 중심으로 5,550억 원 규모의 대규모 투자를 유치하게 되었다. 

SK바이오사이언스, 유한건강생활 등의 기업이 참여한 이번 투자로 안동시는 글로벌 바이오·백신 허브로 도약할 준비를 마쳤다.

안동시는 또한 문화특구와 교육발전특구를 통해 지역의 문화와 교육 자원을 극대화하며, 정주 여건 개선과 인재 양성에 힘쓰고 있다. 

이는 지역 경제 활성화와 인구 유입을 촉진하는 중요한 요소다.

권기창 안동시장은 “안동시는 이번 기회발전특구 지정을 계기로 지방소멸 위기를 극복한 대표 모델로서 새로운 지방시대를 열어갈 것”이라고 밝혔다.

안동시의 이번 성과는 지방자치단체들에게 지방소멸을 극복하고 지속 가능한 발전을 위한 새로운 길을 제시하고 있다. 

안동시가 선도하는 새로운 지방시대가 대한민국 전체로 확산되길 기대한다.
