사기꾼들은 가짜 투자 기회나 금융 상품을 제공하여 피해자로부터 돈을 받는다.

가상 통화인 암호화폐를 이용하여 사람들을 속이는 사가도 있다. 투자자들에게 가짜 암호화폐를 판매하거나 가짜 거래소를 운영하여 돈을 편취한다.

인터넷을 통해 은행 계정을 해킹하거나 온라인 금융 시스템을 악용하여 돈을 편취하기도 한다.

문자 메시지를 통해 개인정보를 요구하거나 피해자를 속인다.

대출을 받기 위해 거짓된 정보나 문서를 제출하여 돈을 편취한다.

금융사기를 당하지 않기 위해서는 경제의 수요와 공급의 법칙에 따라 정상적인 방법으로 돈을 번다는 사고를 갖는것이 바람직하다. 

또한 합리적인 사업에 대해서는 미래가치를 분석할 수 있는 능력을 길러야 한다.
