Yeoheon Jang Hyeon-gwang (1554 – 7 September 1637) was a scholar of the mid-Joseon Period. Jang Hyeon-gwang, whose main building is Indong, was recognized for his academic virtues and skills among Yi Hwang's literary men and Jo Sik's literary men for his hard work without any intention in the past.

Jang Hyeon-gwang, who raised numerous male scholars in Yeongnam, began to show his aspect as a great scholar by building the Space Yobokcheop in 1571 (the 4th year of King Seonjo's reign) at the age of 18.

Dr. Jang Hoe-ik of Physics said that if 1570 when Toegye's "Seonghaksipdo" was published was called the peak of classical studies, 1571, when the "Space Brief" was written, was the beginning of modern studies.

Hoejincheop, the first chapter of Wooju Yobokcheop, means "meeting the truth. Making the circle a symbol of truth means that it was a grand aspiration to put the entire universe in one frame.

In the last chapter, "Bangungcheop," it is called "Nungju Cheonha First Project, Defense Cheonha First Person," which means that you must accomplish the best thing in the world to become the best person in the world.

The world's best project is not about learning and learning the past, but rather the modern academic spirit that means the task that I have to achieve in the future and is possible for better learning.

While learning from his son Jin, Seo Ae Ryu Seong-ryong said about Yeoheon, "He is a man of firm faith and mixed spirit, so he cannot take away his will, cannot count the amount, and if he deals with him, he will become a great scholar who will never be in the world again."

여헌 장현광(張顯光, 1554년 ~ 1637년 9월 7일)은 조선시대 중기의 학자이다. 인동이 본관인 장현광은 과거에 뜻을 두지 않고 학문에 힘써 이황의 문인과 조식의 문인들 사이에 학덕과 실력을 인정받았다.

수많은 영남의 남인 학자들을 길러낸 장현광은 1571년(선조4) 18세에 '우주요괄첩(宇宙要括帖)'을 지어 대학자로서의 면모를 나타내기 시작했다.

장회익 물리학 박사는 퇴계 선생의 '성학십도'가 간행된 1570년을 고전학문의 정점이라고 칭한다면, '우주요괄첩'이 작성된 1571년은 근대학문의 맹아가 싹트고 있어  근대학문의 기점이라고 할 수 있다고 했다.

'우주요괄첩'의 첫 장인 '회진첩'은 '진리를 만난다'는 뜻이다. 원을 진리의 상징으로 삼았다는 것은 우주 전체를 하나의 틀에 담아보겠다는 원대한 포부였음을 의미한다.

마지막 장인 '반궁첩'에는 '능주천하제일사업, 방위천하제일인물'이라 하여 천하에서 제일가는 일을 해내어야 비로소 천하에서 제일 가는 사람이 된다라는 뜻이다.

천하 제일의 사업이란 과거의 성학을 익혀 체득하는 것이 아니라, 미래에 내가 성취해야 할 과제를 의미하며 더 나은 학문에 가능하다는 근대학문 정신이 표출된 것이다.

서애 류성룡은 아들 진(袗)을 나아가 배우게 하면서 여헌에 대해 이르기를 '그 사람됨은 신념이 확고하고 기상이 혼순하여 그 뜻을 빼앗을 수 없고 그 양을 헤아릴 수 없으며 상대하면 심취하게 하니 후일 세상에 다시 없는 큰 선비가 될 것이며 기도를 주장할 사람은 바로 이 사람이다'하였다.
