노인은 도서관이라는 말은 아프리카 속담으로, 노인이 가진 지식과 경험이 도서관에 버금간다는 뜻이다.

노인은 도서관 같은 존재로 지혜와 풍부한 경험을 가진 존재이며, 공동체의 길을 찾아내는 존재라고도 한다.

더불어 노인은 도서관이라는 말은 노인의 가치와 존엄성을 인정하고 존경하는 말이기도 하다.

흔히들 구미에는 어른이 없다는 말을 한다. 

그만큼 사회생활에 있어서 모범이 되고 귀감이 되어 존경할 만한 대상이 없다는 뜻이다.

나는 인터넷신문사를 운영하며 여러 사람들과 만나고 교류하면서 알게 된 사람 중, 나이의 많고 적음을 떠나 훌륭한 인품과 바른 생활로 주변에 귀감이 되는 분들을 많이 봐왔다.

알게된지 10여년이 된 경북미디어뉴스 이순락 대표는 예전이나 지금이나 한결같은 모습으로 후배 언론인들의 귀감이 되는 모습을 보여주고 있다.

1990년대 이후 구미 현대사의 산증인이기도 한 이순락 대표는 선산군에 정착하기 전 대학강단에서 후학들을 양성하던 교수로서의 인생을 살고 있었다.

젊은 시절 파란만장했던 일과 우여곡절을 겪으며 언론인으로서 그리고 사업가로서 그리고 성실한 신앙인으로서 다양한 사회활동을 해왔다.

코로나19펜데믹 이후 이순락 대표는 오랫동안 숙성된 인생경험을 살려 건강식품을 개발하기에 이르렀고, 본격적인 특허인삼누릉지 보급사업을 추진하고 있다.

놀라운 것은 적지 않은 연세임에도 불구하고 무한히 빛나는 그의 신념과 열정이다. 언제나 긍정적이며 자신감 넘치는 모습은 미래에 대한 도전정신이 부족한 후배들에게 끊임없이 도전하라고 일깨운다.

보통의 노인들은 자신의 과거 경력을 뽐내며, 어른 대접을 받을려고 하지만 사람들은 인정하지 않는다. 

끊임없는 삶에 대한 애착과 노년임에도 불구하고 안락한 생활 대신 도전을 선택한 인물에게서 가슴 깊은 곳으로부터 존경의 마음이 우러나온다.

말로서가 아닌 행동으로 몸소 보여주고 있는 이순락 대표는 지역에서 본받을 만한 어른이다.
