In addition, Professor Han Hee-won said at the end of the article, "We made a dictionary of pro-Japanese life records, but do we actually have a list of Japanese war criminals?" "Should we not argue that it is a historical lesson?"

If you look at Professor Han Hee-won's lectures and writings as a whole, you can see his firm belief and willingness to see history broadly.

However, the firm belief in reading as a scholar can make busy public officials feel arrogance and authoritarianism.

The new director of the Gyeongbuk Independence Movement Memorial Hall should not only have a sharp self-reflection and historical awareness of the past experienced by the Korean people, but also be able to boldly point out and improve the wrong past. In this sense, the dictionary of pro-Japanese names is not a matter of dividing sides between us.

If intellectuals' self-consciousness and historical awareness established by reading are biased to one side, they can fall into arrogance and self-righteousness.

To stay away from this, it is necessary to encourage others to stand in the shoes of others and understand other perspectives in order to promote empathy and understanding. This can be done by promoting education and open dialogue and promoting cultural exchange programs.

In order to encourage open communication, it is necessary to create an environment where people can feel comfortable expressing their opinions and thoughts without fear of judgment or retaliation.In addition, it emphasizes the importance of active listening and respectful discourse.

By encouraging teamwork and cooperation rather than hierarchical structure, it emphasizes the value of various contributions and promotes common responsibility through a collaborative culture.

In particular, it is necessary to ensure that checks and balances are properly made to ensure that individuals and institutions are held accountable for their actions and decisions, implement transparent governance systems, and prevent abuse of power.

Encourage a culture of lifelong learning and intellectual curiosity by promoting critical thinking skills, media literacy and civic education so that individuals can question authority and think independently.

Create policies to celebrate and embrace diversity and differences in ethnicity, gender, religion, and culture, and to challenge discriminatory practices by ensuring equal opportunities for all individuals.

2023년 6월 19일 경북지사는 한희원 동국대 법과대학 교수를 제4대 경상북도독립운동기념관장으로 임명했다.

임명 추진 과정에서 일부 지역 시민단체에서는  2022년 5월 3일 한희원 교수의 경상북도 도청에서의 특강과 관련하여 반(反) 자주적 사관을 지적하며 임명 철회의견을 제시하여 이에 대해 신임관장은 의견서를 제출해 소명했다.

당시 특강에서 한희원 교수는 "논어 학이편(學而編)에 나오는 학(學)하고 습(習)하라는 공자님의 가르침을 병학적으로 실천한 요시다 쇼인이 있었다. 그는 조슈번(현 야마구치현) 출신의 무사이자 사상가이고 교육자로 독서를 통한 자주독립 일본국을 주창했다."라며, 요시다 쇼인이 1만권의 책을 읽도록 장려한 사실을 사례로 들었다.

이를 경북 공무원들에게도 적용하며 1천 권의 책을 읽은 공무원에게 도지사가 인증하는 '독서사 자격증'을 주어 주체적인 삶을 살 수 있도록 제안한 바가 있다.

또한 한희원 교수는 '일본의 역사인식에 대한 단죄(2013.07.26.)' 글의 말미에 "우리는 친일 인명록 사전은 만들었지만, 정작 일본 전범자에 대한 인물목록은 가지고나 있을까?"라는 말과 함께 "지금이라도 우리끼리 편 가르는 친일·반일 인명록이 아니라 식민지배 치하에서의 극악한 일본 전범자들의 인명록을 작성하여 역사적 교훈으로 삼는 일을 하여야 하지 않겠는가?"라는 논조를 제시해 이는 진정으로 국민의 행복을 다지는 일이라고 주장한 바가 있다.

한희원 교수의 강연과 글을 전체적으로 살펴보면 역사에 대해 광의적으로 보자는 자신만의 확고한 신념과 의지가 엿보인다.

하지만 학자로서 쌓아온 독서에 대한 확고한 신념은  자칫 바쁜 공무원들에게 오만과 권위주의를 느끼게 할 수 있다. 

경북독립운동기념관 신임관장은 우리 민족이 겪은 과거에 대한 통렬한 자기반성과 역사인식이 있어야 함은 물론이고 잘못된 과거에 대해서는 과감히 지적하고 개선할 수 있어야만 한다. 그런 의미에서 친일인명록 사전은 우리끼리 편가르는 일이 아니다.

지식인들이 독서로 정립된 자의식과 역사인식이 자칫 한쪽으로 편향된다면 오만과 독선에 빠질 수 있다.

이를 멀리 하기 위해서는 공감과 이해를 촉진하기 위해 다른 사람들의 입장에 서서 다른 관점을 이해하도록 격려해야 한다. 이는 교육과 열린 대화를 촉진하고 문화 교류 프로그램을 촉진함으로써 이루어질 수 있다.

개방적인 커뮤니케이션을 장려하기 위해 사람들이 판단이나 보복을 두려워하지 않고 자신의 의견과 생각을 표현하는 것을 편안하게 느낄 수 있는 환경을 만들어 줘야 한다.더불어  적극적인 경청과 존중하는 담론의 중요성을 강조한다.

계층 구조보다는 팀워크와 협력을 장려하여 협업문화를 통해 다양한 기여의 가치를 강조하고 공동의 책임감을 촉진한다.

특히 개인과 기관이 자신의 행동과 결정에 대해 책임을 지도록 하며 투명한 거버넌스 시스템을 구현하고 권력 남용을 방지하기 위해 견제와 균형이 제대로 이루어졌는지 확인해야 한다.

개인이 권위에 의문을 제기하고 독립적으로 생각할 수 있도록 비판적 사고 기술과 미디어 리터러시 및 시민 교육을 추진함으로써 평생 학습과 지적 호기심의 문화를 장려한다.

민족성, 성별, 종교, 문화의 다양성과 차이를 축하하고 포용하고 모든 개인에게 동등한 기회를 보장하여 차별적 관행에 도전하는 정책을 만든다.

자기 성찰과 자기 인식을 촉진하여 개인이 자신의 편견과 편견을 인식하도록 만들고 개인의 성장과 지속적인 자기 계발을 장려한다.

지도자들과 영향력 있는 인물들은 겸손을 늘 가슴에 품고 개방성과 다른 사람들에 대한 존중을 나타내야 하며, 지도자들이 이러한 자질들을 보여줄 때, 다른 사람들이 따를 수 있는 긍정적인 분위기를 만든다.

따라서 오만과 권위주의를 없애는 것은 집단적인 노력과 더 포괄적이고 존중받는 사회를 육성하기 위한 장기적인 헌신을 필요한다는 사실을 명심하라.
