Hakbong Historical and Cultural Park will finally open its opening ceremony after completing its long journey. The project, which started in 2015 under the name of Imran Historical and Cultural Park when the park was first conceived, has taken a bumpy road. After overcoming many difficulties, many people have made efforts to this day, and now it is time to establish the park as a cultural center that can create new values for us beyond just a historical space.

Celebrating historical space is not just a representation of the past. In order for Hakbong Historical Culture Park to have a real meaning, it is necessary to consider not only the values of the past contained in it, but also how the people of the present will inherit and develop those values. The study and spirit led by Hakbong Kim Sung-il, and the tragedy of the Imjin War that he personally suffered, still teach a lot even in the situation we are in today. This park must honor its past, but furthermore, find how to incorporate the spirit into modern society.

In order for Hakbong Historical and Cultural Park not to remain a simple tourist destination, it must evolve into a new space in which tradition and modernity are harmonized. This means that beyond the preservation of historical values, more people should be able to understand and experience history through various cultural activities and educational programs. The reason we remember history is not just to look back on the past. It is to shine on us today through that history and to draw a better future.

What many people are interested in today is not just the preservation of relics or buildings, but the life and spirit of the people contained in them. Hakbong Historical Culture Park should also reflect its spirit. For this, a living history beyond an academic approach, that is, content that people can sympathize with and feel, is needed. The park should be established as a cultural hub suitable for the new era in a variety of ways, including culture and arts, traditional education, and connection with local communities.

Hakbong Historical and Cultural Park is now at the starting point. The difficult process so far has never been in vain. Rather, it would have been the foundation for a new start with greater value and meaning. I believe that Hakbong's spirit and history will regain vitality here and open a better future for all of us.

학봉역사문화공원이 드디어 그 오랜 여정을 마치고 개원식을 연다. 이 공원이 처음 구상된 2015년 당시 ‘임란역사문화공원’이라는 이름으로 출발했던 사업은 결코 순탄치 않은 길을 걸어왔다. 여러 어려움을 딛고 오늘에 이르기까지 많은 사람들의 노력이 있었으며, 이제 이 공원은 단순한 역사적 공간을 넘어 우리에게 새로운 가치를 창출할 수 있는 문화적 중심지로 자리매김해야 할 시점이다.

역사적 공간을 기념하는 것은 단순히 과거를 재현하는 일이 아니다. 학봉역사문화공원이 진정한 의미를 가지기 위해서는 그 안에 담긴 과거의 가치뿐만 아니라 현재의 사람들이 그 가치를 어떻게 계승하고 발전시킬지를 고민해야 한다. 학봉 김성일 선생이 이끌었던 학문과 정신, 그리고 그가 몸소 겪었던 임진왜란의 비극은 오늘날 우리가 처한 상황에서도 여전히 많은 교훈을 준다. 이 공원은 그 과거를 기리되, 더 나아가 그 정신을 어떻게 현대사회에 접목시킬지 모색해야 한다.
