접성산산림욕장이 있는 접성산은 구미시 고아읍 항곡리에 있는 산으로 조선시대 지명은 대황당산으로 불렸다.

대황당산 중턱에 접성사라는 절이 있어 접성산 지명이 유래했다고도 하며, 한국지명총람에서는 접성산을 접산, 대황당산, 봉화산이라고 하였다.

고도 약375미터인 접성산 정상에 오르면 주변의 광활한 경치에 매료된다. 특히 낙동강 방면으로 보이는 구미시의 발전상을 한 눈에 내려다 볼 수 가 있다.

선산과 구미의 중심에 위치한 접성산은 서울의 남산과 같은 역할을 할 수 있는 지리적 이점이 있다.

남산은 서울특별시 중구와 용산구에 걸쳐 있는 해발 271미터 높이의 산으로 서울의 중심부에 위치하여 서울의 상징이 되기도 한다.

정상에는 거대한 도심으로 가득찬 서울 전체를 내려다 볼 수 있는 N서울타워가 있으며,그 부근까지는 케이블카가 설치되어 있고 남산 1·2·3호 터널이 뚫려 있어 도심지 교통의 중추적인 역할을 하고 있다.

옛적 봉화산이라고 불렸던 접성산의 정상에 서울타워와 같은 전망대를 비롯하여 모노레일을 설치하여 지역의 명소로 거듭날 수 있으며, 구미의 지형도에 많은 변화를 줄 수 있는 요지이다.
