식품의약품 안전처에 의하면 모더나 백신은 지난 5월 21일 최종 점검위원회를 열어 녹십자가 21년 4월 12일에 모더나 코비 지 - 백신 주에 대해 수입품목을 허가하기로 결정하고 우리나라에 수입 됐다.

모더나 코비 지 - 19 백신 주는 미국 모더나사가 개발한 백신으로 코로나 바이러스 항원 유전자를 항원 단백질에 합성시켜 중화항체의 생성을 유도하게 된다.

모더나 백신을 접종 후 코로나 바이러스가 우리 몸에 들어오게 되면 백신에 들어있는 항원 단백질과 중화시켜 코로나 바이러스를 제거하게 되는 것이다.

18세 이상이 접종 대상자이며 모더나 코비 지 - 19 백신 주는 국내에서 네 번째, mRna 백신으로 화이자에 이어 국내에서 두 번째로 백신 허가를 받게 되었다.

유럽과 미국 외 39개의 국가에서 WHO에 조건부 허가와 긴급 사용승인을 허가받기도 했다.

미국에서 실시한 모더나 임상시험 결과 코로나 19로 확진받은 사람이 백신군 11명, 대조군 185명이 각각 발생하여 약 94%의 감염 예방 효과를 나타내고 있다.

모더나의 감염 예방은 코로나 바이러스 항체에 94% 이상의 중증 효과를 보이며 거의 100% 가깝게 제거가 가능하다고 한다. 화이자 감염 예방 효과과와 거의 비슷한 수치를 나타내고 있다.

모더나의 백신의 부작용으로 주사부위의 통증, 피로, 근육통, 오한, 구토, 발열 등이 흔하게 나타나고 있다. 하지만 이런 증상은 몸안에 비슷한 항체들끼리 충돌하면서 발생하는 지극히 자연스러운 면역반응으로 시간이 흐르면 자연적으로 사라진다.

필자의 경우 주사부위에 서서히 통증이 오고 팔을 위로 들어올리기가 불편하다. 전날 격렬한 운동을 한 후의 증상과도 비슷한 느낌이다. 또한 으실으실 추위가 느껴지는 것이 몸살 전의 증상과도 유사하며, 약간의 뻐근함과 무기력증 외에는 큰 이상은 없다.이 또한 시간이 지나가면 괜찮아지리라.
