흰 모시 두루마기에 중절모를 쓴 한 노인이 지팡이를 짚고 걸어간다.

어릴적에 익숙했던 나이든 어른들의 전형적인 모습이다.

한 손에는 무엇인가 가득 채운 검은봉지를 든채 어디론가 향하는 모습이 낯설지가 않다. 안동 어른들이 누군가의 집에 방문할 때, 예를 차리기 위한 작은 선물로 보인다. 

어릴적 아버지를 따라 안동 어른들을 뵐 때면 손에는 항상 백화수복과 같은 큰 정종술을 들고 방문하셨다. 제사나 손님을 반길 때 가장 필요한 술이다. 때론 담배 보루도 좋은 선물이었다.

세월을 따라 옛 어른들이 한 분 두 분 흙으로 돌아가시게 되고 안동 또한 새로운 세대들이 자리를 차지하고 있다.

시대는 변했으나 특정 장소에 머무를 때 이따금 소환되는 옛적 기억들로 인해 과거와 현재가 공존하는 느낌을 받는다.

나만은 늙지 않고 영원히 젊은 생을 누릴 것이라고 생각하지 말라. 

흰 두루마기에 중절모를 쓰고 지팡이를 짚게 될 순간은 누구에게나 찾아온다.
