From January 2023, Cheongsong-gun residents will be able to use rural buses for free.

This is because the Cheongsong County Council passed the "Ordinance to Support the Free Use of Rural Buses" on December 14, 2022.

This provides great benefits to Cheongsong-gun residents who have experienced inconvenience in using public transportation, and is particularly noteworthy in that it is the nation's first full-scale transportation welfare expansion, including young people and tourists.

However, there is also a dark shadow behind the positive change.

According to the local newspaper, Cheongsong bus executives were found to have received hundreds of millions of dollars in salary and business promotion expenses while working twice a week, sparking controversy.

County Governor Yoon Kyung-hee raises suspicions of preferential hiring in the process of recommending executives, and the unfair use of taxpayers' money is raised as a problem.

Cheongsong-gun should make efforts to secure operational transparency and restore the trust of the county residents in the wake of this incident.

Only transparent and fair operations will realize the true value of traffic welfare.

2023년 1월부터 청송군민들은 농어촌버스를 무료로 이용할 수 있게 되었다. 

청송군의회가 2022년 12월 14일에 ‘농어촌버스 무료이용 지원 조례’를 원안 가결했기 때문이다. 

이는 대중교통 이용에 불편을 겪었던 청송군민들에게 큰 혜택을 제공하며, 특히 청장년층과 관광객까지 포함한 전국 최초의 전면적 교통복지 확대라는 점에서 주목할 만하다.

그러나 긍정적인 변화 뒤에는 어두운 그림자도 존재한다. 

지역신문에 따르면 청송버스 임원들이 주 2회 근무하면서도 억대의 급여와 업무추진비를 수령한 사실이 드러나 논란이 일고 있다. 

윤경희 군수가 임원 추천 과정에서 특혜 채용 의혹을 불러일으키며, 군민 혈세의 부당 사용이 문제로 제기되고 있다.

청송군은 이번 사태를 계기로 운영 투명성을 확보하고, 군민의 신뢰를 회복하기 위한 노력을 기울여야 한다. 

투명하고 공정한 운영만이 진정한 교통복지의 가치를 실현할 수 있을 것이다.
