Located in Jeomgok, Uiseong, Cousin Traditional Village is the clan village of Andong Kim Clan and Pungsan Ryu Clan, and many Confucian scholars, including Song Eun Kim Kwang-soo, Manchudang Kim Sa-won, Angel Kim Jong-deok, and Byeongchon Ryu Tae-chun, were born in this village and studied academics.

Seoae Ryu Seong-ryong, Kim Kwang-soo's only grandson, was also born in this village.

It is a village where Dalsa Temple in Munhyeon of the Joseon Dynasty and Gwahan were connected, and 13 people passed the major department and 34 people passed the minor department, producing scholars.

There are about 30 traditional old houses in Choson Traditional Village, and among them, Manchwidang is known as the oldest wooden building in Korea.

In addition, the Cousin Street Forest at the entrance of the village, which is an old tree for more than 600 years, is very beautiful, and it has become a communication path for people to rest and play as a protective barrier to protect the village from natural disasters such as floods and typhoons.

However, a terrible thing that tarnishes the tradition of cousin traditional village has also recently happened.

The Uiseong-gun Farmers' Association condemned the head of the village's financial institution for abusing his power and urged him to resign. Historically, good people have been produced and bad luck is in the elegant village.

Although a local representative who has to protect the scholar's system excuses that he made a mistake after drinking, considering the integrity and determination of the old scholar in his cousin's village, it is right to resign on his own after realizing his moral responsibility.

사촌마을자료전시관 내에 위치한 선비모형

의성 점곡에 위치한 사촌전통마을은 안동김씨와 풍산류씨의 집성촌으로 송은 김광수, 만취당 김사원, 천사 김종덕 및 병촌 류태춘 등 많은 유현이 이 마을에서 태어나 학문을 연구하였다.

또한 김광수의 외손인 서애 류성룡도 이 마을에서 태어났다.

조선조 문현 달사와 과한이 이어진 마을로 대과에 13명, 소과에 34명이 합격하는 등 선비학자들이 배출된 마을이다.

사촌전통마을은 약 30여 동의 전통 고가들이 존재하고 있고 그중에서 만취당은 국내에서 가장 오래된 사가의 목조건물로 알려져 있다.

더불어 600년 수량 이상의 노거수인 마을입구의 사촌가로숲은 매우 아름다우며 마을숲으로서 사람들의 쉬고 놀 수 있는 소통로가 되고 홍수를 비롯해 태풍과도 같은 자연재호로부터 마을을 지켜주는 보호막이 되기도 했다.

하지만 사촌전통마을의 전통을 퇴색시켜버리는 흉흉한 일도 최근 일어났다.

의성군 농민회에서 갑질을 일삼은 마을 금융기관장을 규탄하며 사퇴를 촉구하는 일이 벌어졌다. 역사적으로 훌륭한 인물을 배출하고 기품있는 마을에 액운이 낀 것이다.

선비 체통을 지켜야 할 지역 대표인사가 술을 마시고 실수를 했다고 변명을 하나, 사촌마을 옛 선비의 청렴과 결기를 생각한다면, 도덕적 책임을 통감하고 스스로 물러나야 옳은 일이다.
